st. gregory the great: I chanted, pray for me.
One of the many "great" achievements of Pope Gregory the First was his invention and notation of Gregorian chant, so on his feast day I listened to some of this calm and strange music. Later, since my boyfriend's latest hobby is to learn Chinese characters, I got him to write a sentence in a large font which we sat down at the keyboard to chant together. My style was minimalist; his, improvisatory. The characters he chose were zhe, shi, shen and mi, which translate as something like "what is it?"

I've been gone for a very long time, but it was great to come back to your journal. I'm so happy to see that every day you are still honoring the saints, as everyday you gave out flowers.

Thank you
